When to use Foggy:
Throughout Foggy’s beta testing (and since our public launch in June) we’ve heard from our members that seeing real-time fog conditions across the Bay Area lets you make informed decisions about your day. This was the inspiration for Foggy: to help our community easily understand where the fog is, and decide how to interact with it. Day in, day out.
Our members are finding Foggy useful for a wide variety of purposes, including looking for sun, looking for fog and simply wanting to understand conditions in a specific place they’re headed.
Whether you’re looking for a sunny picnic spot, deciding to make your dinner reservation outside or inside, or just want to layer appropriately for a day in Golden Gate Park, Foggy is here to help!

We’ve also been hearing from people beyond the Bay Area who enjoy using Foggy to watch the weather patterns move over our local map. Some have moved away and want to tap into the nostalgia of fog season in SF. Others have friends or family members in the Bay Area and report that keeping an eye on the fog makes them feel connected, even from afar.

We love hearing from our community, and are grateful for the encouragement and suggestions we’ve been receiving for how to make Foggy even more useful.
Last week we launched an app update addressing a request: we made the Foggy map taller! This update hasn’t changed the area Foggy shows and serves, it’s just given the map more room to breathe so the northern and southern ends of our map are more useful to folks who live there, or are planning to visit.
Our members have been sharing great suggestions for how to keep improving Foggy, and we’re considering every idea.
